Students worked in class to develop connections between video & course readings, aiming for concision by identifying key ideas from theorists who influenced the practice of digital and media literacy. Click on the links below to see their work:

CONCISION: Exploring ideas from Michel Foucault, Roland Barthes, and Mickhail Bahktin, #COM520 students Tori, Annabelle and Cynthia asked: Have you ever wondered what makes mainstream media so mainstream?

MEDIA EFFECTS: Kelly and Francesca summarized the video by identifying framing, priming and agenda setting as types of media influence. 

ROAR ON TITAN: After exploring ideas from Henry Jenkins, John Fiske, Vanessa Domine and Neil Postman, Nani and Christine consider whether fandom practices are truly liberatory. 

MISS REPRESENTATION: Sam and Eric summarized the video by identifying how media shapes identities and social values.
